Groundhog Day Event 2024!

Celebrate Groundhog Day at Allan Brooks Nature Centre on Friday, Feb 2!  10:00am – Starting ceremony with the Vernon Winter Carnival, Vernon Mayor, Rebecca Barton from Beach Radio, and MLA Harwinder Sandhu 10:15am – Okie’s prediction & FREE Hot Beverages & Snacks! 10:30am onwards – bonfire until 1pm (bring your own chair) ** Okanagan Okie is the newest Groundhog mascot in the province and will come out of his burrow Feb 2 to let us know whether Spring is on its way, or whether Winter will be with us for a few more weeks! So far Okie is 2 for 2 and we are looking forward to the prognostication for 2024, also kicking off the annual Vernon Winter Carnival! Check out the LIVESTREAM below, to attend virtually! Experience Kalamalka Lake Provincial Park with Local Naturalist, Roseanne Van Ee

If you have questions about Kalamalka Lake Provincial Park, Local Naturalist Roseanne Van Ee will likely know the answer! Roseanne was the park naturalist in the 1990’s and she currently writes a monthly nature column for The Morning Star. On May 21, join Roseanne for a personal tour of the park on her favourite walk. The presentation will begin at 2 p.m. at the Twin Bays upper parking lot. Registration is limited to 30 individuals.
