As our Fundraising & Events Coordinator, you’ll play a pivotal role in bringing our mission to life by driving revenue generation through strategic fundraising initiatives and dynamic event planning. From cultivating donor relationships and planning educational workshops to hosting memorable fundraising events, you’ll have the chance to make a difference every day.  ABNC’s Mission is “The Allan Brooks Nature Centre is committed to promoting the enjoyment of nature and increasing awareness of habitat conservation through environmental education and nature-related activities in the Okanagan region.”

 What You’ll Do:

  • Develop and implement strategic fundraising plans that align with ABNC’s mission and goals.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with individual and corporate donors, sponsors, and community partners.
  • Plan and execute a wide range of events in collaboration with the Programs Coordinator and Community Engagement Coordinator, including educational workshops, festivals, corporate gatherings, community events and fundraisers.
  • Manage all aspects of event logistics, including budgeting, timelines, marketing, and vendor coordination.
  • Collaborate with the ABNC team to conceptualize events that engage and inspire our community.
  • Research and secure public and private grant opportunities, preparing and submitting grant applications.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers to support event and fundraising activities.
  • Conduct post-event evaluations to assess success and identify areas for improvement.

 What You’ll Bring:

  • A degree or diploma in event management, fundraising, hospitality, marketing, or a similar field.
  • Proven experience in event planning and fundraising, preferably in a non-profit or customer-focused organization.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Collaborative leadership style with a passion for mentoring and motivating volunteers.
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities to overcome challenges and create innovative event experiences.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, social media platforms, and database management.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work under pressure and meet changing priorities.
  • A passion for nature, environmental conservation, and outdoor education.

 Candidates Must:

  • Have a valid BC Driver’s License, reliable transportation, and be willing to provide a driver’s abstract for review.
  • Have or be willing to obtain First Aid and CPR certification upon hiring.
  • Provide a Criminal Records Check.

Please Note: This is NOT a remote position. There is some flexibility around working hours, but the employee is required to work on-site 90% of the time. Must be flexible to work evenings and weekends and occasionally overtime during scheduled events.
