Experience Twilight Brass in the Grass: A Harmonious Evening with Fish on Five Brass Quintet
On Saturday, June 8, join us at the Allan Brooks Nature Centre (ABNC) for an evening of music in the grassland amphitheater. Enjoy one of the most breathtaking views in the North Okanagan while enjoying a musical performance by the Fish on Five Brass Quintet (please see artist bio below), presented by the Okanagan Symphony Orchestra (OSO). Be sure to bring your own lawn chair and get ready for some tasty eats from a local food truck during the show’s intermission. Tickets will be available online or in person at the ABNC until the start of the event. We hope to see you there!
Artist Bio:
The Fish on Five Brass Quintet is made up of members Dennis, Colpitts and Jim Howie on the trumpet, Edmund House on the French horn, Wade Dorsey on the Trombone and Reynold Epp on the Tuba. Founded in 2009, five brass-playing friends were anchored in a remote cove west of Bella Bella on the central coast of B.C. A day of fishing was over and it was time to relax. In the glow of the setting sun, the musicians assembled on deck and the music began with the sonorous sounds of brass. The beautiful harmonies were tossed around the cove by an echo that equalled those heard in the cathedrals of Vienna. That setting and experience was the true birthplace of ‘Fish on Five.’
