Vermicomposting Workshop

This course will teach you to properly and safely compost a small amount of vegetarian food scraps in a vermiculture (worm) bin, harvest worm castings to use in the garden and will introduce you to the soil-food web and alternate ways of composting at home to fulfill your zero waste lifestyle goals. We will plan to facilitate the workshop outdoors at ABNC, with additional support material provided. Space is limited to 10 people and pre-registration is required. Suitable for ages 16 years and up.

Keli Westgate is a local Compost Educator and Certified Permaculture Designer. She also works with Spa Hills Compost, a food waste composting facility in Salmon Arm. Keli is passionate about waste reduction, soil improvement and local organic agriculture. She spent 5 years on the Board of the Sustainable Environment Network Society as well as serving on a number of other local non-profit boards and committees, including the RDNO’s Solid Waste Advisory Committee.

*** COVID Update: Wearing a mask and social distancing is mandatory for all ABNC facilitated programming. Please check in regularly for any changes or updates on our social media and website. Should this workshop be cancelled due to Covid restrictions, participants will be notified immediately and refunded in full.
