Nature's Wardrobe Get your children outdoors this summer and book them in a Growing Up Wild Summer Camp. Our nature camps are hands-on, fun-filled learning at Allan Brooks Nature Centre! Children will learn about our local ecosystems and wildlife through outdoor lessons, play, crafts, games, and activities! Our Growing Up Wild Camp is a day camp for children ages 4 - 5. These are half-day camps that run for 4 days from 9 am - 12 pm, Tuesday - Friday. Growing Up Wild Theme: Nature's Wardrobe Nature changes outfits all year long. Campers explore seasonal colour, weather, and animal changes through outdoor games and simple crafts. We’ll do leaf rubbings, match nature colours, go on a weather walk, make windsocks, and build tiny “season shelters” with natural materials. Day 1: Colour changes Indoor: Introductions, Rules, Ice Breaker/Seated Name Game. Behaviour Policy:
At Allan Brooks Nature Centre we work to create a safe, inclusive environment for everyone. Our staff use positive reinforcements, empowering language, and friendly reminders of what appropriate behaviour looks like, sounds like, and feels like. When conflicts arise, we guide children through conflict resolution discussions so they can develop empathy and interpersonal skills. When necessary, staff will discuss with parents/guardians strategies for improving behaviour.
However, in some cases a Camp Leader may need to remove the child from the camp. Parents/guardians will be asked to pick up the child immediately. A refund will not be given in this event. Examples of behaviour that will result in removal include (but are not limited to): violence to themselves or others, bullying, damaging property, refusing to follow safety rules, repeatedly running out of sight, or continued disruption of the program.

These are full-day camps that run for 4 days from 9 am - 4 pm, Tuesday - Friday. Nature Explorers Theme: Glow, Gloam & Creepy-Crawlies For kids who love bugs, beetles, and all the tiny things. Learn how to explore micro-habitats safely, use simple survey tools, and discover life cycles. Add navigation challenges and team games, then finish with a Creepy-Crawly Expo where campers share their favourite finds. The week ends with a Forecast Fair where teams share their best weather predictions. Children will learn about our local ecosystems and wildlife through outdoor lessons, play, crafts, games, and activities! Our Nature Scientists Camp is a day camp for children ages 8 - 12. These are full-day camps that run for 4 days from 9 am - 4 pm, Tuesday - Friday. Nature Scientists Theme: Ecology Field Lab Turn into a real field scientist. Campers learn survey skills (quadrats, transects, notebooks), compare habitats, and collect data on soil, water, and biodiversity. Indoors, we’ll graph results and interpret findings. The week ends with a mini conference where teams present what they learned. Day 1 Field methods bootcamp, notebooks and data basics Indoors: Welcome and lab expectations: ‘Scientist’ introductions and team roles (data lead, equipment lead, timekeeper, safety lead).
