Nature Trailer
Launched in 2015, the Allan Brooks Nature Trailer is a mobile educational unit that brings the outdoors to you! Featuring interactive, hands-on displays and guided activities, the Nature Trailer Program is a uniquely Okanagan experience that children of all ages can enjoy.
Whether your group regularly visits the Allan Brooks Nature Centre or has never stepped foot in the grasslands, you’ll love a Nature Trailer visit. The Nature Trailer program is designed to compliment visits to the main location; classes who have already visited the Nature Centre will learn and encounter new things.
Four Nature Trailer Programs have been designed to satisfy the new BC curriculum for grades K – 7. With programs handcrafted by a team of biologists, we develop students’ understanding of their local ecosystems and inspire a love for nature.
Program Overview
Each Nature Trailer session runs for 60 minutes, and includes a tour through the Nature Trailer and several hands-on activities that are custom tailored to the age group. This program is available October – April and activities are adjustable based on weather conditions at the time of the programs. Activities take place outdoors, but an alternate set of classroom-appropriate activities are available in case of extreme weather.
The program is designed for one class of 25 students per session, with up to 4 sessions offered per day.
See our Nature Trailer Program Overview for a full list of programs and their descriptions.
