Facility Rentals

The Allan Brooks Nature Centre (ABNC) offers a unique setting for your private event or business meeting.
Located just minutes from downtown Vernon, the Centre is an escape from the usual boardroom or banquet
hall and offers plenty of outdoor space, a private classroom, a covered picnic area, tranquility in nature, and
breathtaking views. ABNC has a few options for outdoor & indoor spaces to suit your needs. Below are the
standard prices for room & area rentals. Any extra needs or accommodations will be an additional cost:

The Ken Barton Learning Centre Classroom

● Suitable for business meetings, lectures, team building & workshops.
● Includes long tables and chairs to seat approximately 20 people or max. 40 people in a theatre style set-up.
● Includes large flat screen TV with laser pointer and laptop connector (Mac users must bring
their own adaptor).
● Free access to wifi.
● Access to indoor washrooms (located in the Interpretive Centre).
● No alcohol is permitted. You’re responsible for your own food and catering.
Classroom rental is $50/hour ($40/hour for members)
Minimum 3 hour rental

Covered Picnic Area

● Suitable for outdoor meetings, family gatherings, birthday parties, family reunions, private
dinners and team building events.
● Includes 4 large picnic tables under cover with a capacity to seat 24 people, with an
additional 2 picnic tables (not covered) with a capacity to seat 8 people each, for a total of 40
seats available.
● Access to indoor washrooms (located in the Interpretive Centre).
● Incredible views overlooking the Commonage area of Vernon and Okanagan Lake.
● A special occasion licence, event insurance and designated server with current Serving
it Right Certificate is required for any alcohol provided to guests. This is not included with the
basic rental fee, please inquire about this option.
● A propane BBQ is available for the duration of the facility rental.
● In extreme hot weather, we are happy to turn on the misting system attached to the shelter, to keep you
and your guests cool and comfortable.
● Access to a portable sound system w/microphone(s).
Picnic Area Rental is $300 (3 hour minimum), and $75 per hour (after 3 hours)
Membership rates: $250 (3 hour rental), $50 per hour (after 4hours)

Grasslands Theatre – Breathtaking views of the grasslands in a private outdoor setting

● Breathtaking views of the Okanagan grasslands and Kal Lake.
● Suitable for wedding ceremonies, presentations, musical performances and lectures.
● The ground is naturally sloped much like a theatre providing an excellent view of the main
“stage” area, plus a stunning view of Kal Lake and Vernon. Stage rentals are recommended if a
hard/flat area is required, as the ground is naturally uneven.
● There are permanent benches in place that seat approximately 75 people with room for additional
chairs as needed, or as an alternative seating option (chairs not provided).
● Power is available
● Access to 2 single-room washrooms will be available in the Interpretive Centre. There is one portable
washroom outside the Grassland Theatre as well. If additional temporary portable washrooms are required,
there is an option to rent more for an additional fee, based on local availability.
● No alcohol, smoking, or vaping is permitted in the grasslands.
● No pets allowed in the grasslands area.
● Additional event insurance is required for all events – please inquire for more details.
Grasslands Theatre rental is $500 (3 hour minimum), and $150 per hour after 3 hours

The Allan Brooks Nature Centre also offers nature themed Birthday Parties as part of our programming. Give your child a fun filled day outside that will make their birthday unforgettable!

● All prices are subject to PST.
● The Interpretive Centre will be closed for attendees of private facility rentals, unless an
arrangement is made with staff in advance - with the exception of bathroom use.
● Kitchen facilities are not available for public or private use. Please bring pre-prepared
foods, except for barbequing. We are happy to provide catering suggestions that we have worked with in the
past.
● A quality sound system is available to book at an additional cost. Options of two speakers,
sound mixer, wireless head mic & 2 corded mics with mic stand.
● The walking trails are open for visitor use but all guests must remain on designated trails and
not walk through the grasslands to protect our native plants and animals. We ask that guests
refrain from picking flowers & plants, or touching any wild animals.
● No animals or pets are allowed onsite for the protection of our native animal species
and for your pets’ safety.
● Smoking or vaping anywhere on the Nature Centre grounds is not permitted.
● Vehicles are permitted to park temporarily in the round-about to drop off or pick up guests or
supplies, but must be moved to the designated parking area as soon as possible. 2-3 accessible
parking spaces are available in front of the classroom - please have permits clearly displayed.
● Our parking areas can accommodate a maximum of 25 vehicles, with overflow parking available along the
laneway (please park only on the right-hand side).
● In the event that additional equipment and supplies are needed that may affect the ground and plant life
such as tents or stages, ABNC staff must be consulted in advance. Extra costs may apply.
● Throwing flower petals or rice, and use of plastics for decoration such as balloons are not
permitted. ABNC abides by a “leave no trace” policy and encourages environmentally friendly choices for all
event activities.
● Please read the complete list of Visitor Rules and Guidelines to familiarize the conditions around visitors
attending the Nature Centre.
● We highly recommend a visit to the Nature Centre to view our facilities in person for the most
accurate information to suit your needs.

● Cancellation fees will be applied to private events canceled within specified timeframes of the
booking date.
● The Allan Brooks Nature Centre also offers nature-themed Birthday Parties for kids of all
ages. Give your child a memorable and fun-filled day, including hands-on educational content of
your choice, a craft and private reservation of the picnic shelter for 2 hours. Inquiries for
