Vermicomposting Workshop

May 6 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm PDT

Join us on May 6, from 10-Noon to learn from Keli Westgate how to use “Vermicomposting” in your daily gardening practice.

Vermicomposting or worm composting is a simple technology for converting biodegradable waste into organic manure with the help of earthworms. Earthworms are valued by farmers because, in addition to aerating the soil, they digest organic matter and produce castings that are a valuable source of humus (a dark, organic material that forms in soil when plant and animal matter decays).

Vermicompost, compared to traditional compost is better because of its higher nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium content, and its ability to improve soil structure and increase its water holding capacity.

Location: Allen Brooks Nature Centre, in the Picnic Shelter

Time: 10-Noon

Cost: $30 per person. Pre-registration is required.
