
Get your children outdoors this summer and book them in a Growing Up Wild Summer Camp. Our nature camps are hands-on, fun-filled learning at Allan Brooks Nature Centre! Children will learn about our local ecosystems and wildlife through outdoor lessons, play, crafts, games, and activities!
Our Growing Up Wild Camp is a day camp for children ages 4 – 5. These are half-day camps that run for 4 days from 9 am – 12 pm, Tuesday – Friday.
Growing Up Wild Theme: Little Sprouts & Big Changes
From seeds to pollinators, this camp is all about how plants grow and change. Campers plant seeds, hunt for “invasive” seeds, and go on a pollinator safari. Expect mud-and-water play, hands-on experiments, and a mini show-and-tell to celebrate what we discovered.
Day 1: Seeds and starts
Indoor: Introductions, Rules, Ice Breaker/Seated Name Game. Invasive plant seed collage
Outdoor: Invasive plant hunt and seed planting
Day 2: Pollinators
Outdoor: Pollinator safari and pollination game
Indoor: Make pollinator crowns or wings
Day 3: Water and mud
Outdoor: Puddle-to-dry comparisons, mud kitchen style play
Indoor: “Where does water go?” demonstration
Day 4: Growth party
Outdoor: Check planted seeds, “growth games”
Indoor: Mini show-and-tell and take-home craft
